Hello! I'm Nanette

I am a professional portrait photographer, writer, and workshop facilitator based in Maine, USA, who is passionate about celebrating women over 50. I recently completed The Empowered Portrait, a powerful project featuring writing and studio portraits of 33 women from across New England and beyond. More than just a series of striking images, the project invited each participant to reclaim her narrative through a process that combines photography, writing, and deep listening. Currently, I offer Empowered Portrait sessions on a one-to-one basis.

My photography work is also featured in the short film Exposed to the Light, which sensitively documents one woman’s courageous journey toward self-love through my lens. My work illuminates visibility, vulnerability, and strength in the second half of life, pairing each portrait with written reflections, sometimes poetic, sometimes raw, to reflect each woman’s truth and lived experience.

When I’m not traveling, I split my time between a small farm in Monticello, Maine and a tiny cottage on the Maine coast, where I draws inspiration from the rhythm of the tides and the changing seasons. I host the podcast Fire After 50 and lead Inspired Writing workshops online and in-person, creating spaces for women to reclaim their stories, celebrate themselves and each other, and connect in meaningful community. I am a lifelong creative with a background in both writing and photography. I believe that “women over 50 are the most interesting, funny, and valuable demographic in our society today…let’s celebrate them!” You can connect with me at www.nanettefayegordon.com or on Instagram @nanettefayephotography.
